A Parliamentary Standing committee (PSC) has suggested that the Centre accord statutory standing to the employees choice Commission (SSC), one of the biggest accomplishment agencies within the country. Committee says its work appreciate UPSC’s.



Staff Selection Commission- SSC, The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and every State Public Service Commissions either have constitutional or legal status. A professional group implanted by the govt in 2014, for reviewing the examination system within the SSC, had suggested according to statutory standing to the Commission.



At present, the SSC features a sanctioned workers strength of 481 officers, however, is functioning with 75% of its sanctioned strength.



The DoPT expressed that the SSC would be conducting the Common Eligibility test at 3 levels — matric, Higher Secondary and Graduation — and would attract around 5 crore candidates, making it the most important examination within the world.



The SSC has submitted 3 proposals to the govt for the provision of extra manpower. The committee has mentioned that it had been imperative for the govt to accede to the SSC proposals, taking into the consideration the intense mismatch between tasks and resources.
